Red Rock Cashier



All employees begin as a cashier. The cashier is the face of Red Rock, and is responsible for creating a positive experience for our customers and providing an interface between them and our baristas. Beyond taking customer orders, the cashier is responsible for a myriad of tasks that help to maintain Red Rock operations. 

Red Rock Cashier Specific Responsibilities:

  • Promote an excellent experience for both employees and customers.

  • Work as part of a fun, high-energy, efficient team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Welcome customers, answer questions, and accept orders and payments using our Toast point of sale system.

  • Prepare and serve drip coffee, food, tea, iced coffee and tea, and Italian sodas to customers.

  • Brew batch coffee at a pace that ensures coffee is always available.

  • Brew iced coffee and tea, and make syrups as needed.

  • Clean and restock work and dining areas, empty trash and sanitize equipment and utensils.

  • Have a clear knowledge of all inventory items. Take inventory and replenish items in display cases or behind the counter.

  • Keep cups, the condiment bar, and the drink case well-stocked.

  • Keep the dessert case stocked with items appropriate for the time of day.

  • Bus, wash, and sanitize dishes.

  • Make syrups, and other support tasks.

  • Answer phone calls.

  • Sell coffee and brewing equipment, highlighting the differences between items, and educate customers about brewing methods.

  • Complete checklist items along with co-workers at the end of the shift.

  • Provide assistance with special events, catering orders, and miscellaneous tasks.

  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and quality controls.

Red Rock Barista


A Barista is expected to perform all of the duties described in the Cashier and Floater job descriptions at an exceptional level. The Barista is also responsible for the following:

Barista Specific Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of his/her craft as demonstrated by passing a practical drink test.

  • Know the recipes for all drinks on the Red Rock menu.

  • Know how to properly modify dose and grind to achieve a great shot.

  • Make every drink at the best quality with high attention to detail.

  • Keep the bar and workstation area clean: grounds swept up, spills wiped up, milk capped and on ice, etc.

  • Minimize espresso and milk waste.

  • Notify management in case of any equipment problem or low supplies.

  • Select coffee to be brewed and rotating new coffee out after no more than 40 minutes.

  • Answer all customer questions and problems regarding coffee and other bar drinks.
