SHAY SALHOV QUARTET

Israeli saxophonist Shay Salhov has been an active performer and educator in the Bay area for the past 7 years. After spending a decade on the East Coast, studying and performing in the Boston and New York areas, Shay had the opportunity to perform with some of the Bay area’s most respected musicians at venues such as Kuumbwa Jazz Center, The Fillmore, Monterey Jazz Festival and more. Since 2014, Shay has been collaborating with a new quartet comprised of Bay area’s pianist Dahveed Behroozi, bassist John Shifflett and drummer Jason Lewis. The quartet explores adventurous original music composed by all members of the group. Each composition demonstrates a unique approach to contemporary jazz and improvisation, with influences from classical, world and rock music.
