New Spell + Anton Barbeau + Corner Laughers // 8pm // FREE //

NEW SPELL

Dark indie pop with female vocals, this SF Bay Area project creates dynamic, cerebral music. The unifying force behind New Spell's sound is songwriter Leanne Kelly's wandering vocals and keyboard-centric songwriting. Drums and synth bass embellish compelling layers of sound in a uniquely captivating style.

ANTON BARBEAU

Anton Barbeau makes "pre-apocalyptic psychedelic pop." Influenced by artist including the Beatles, Julian Cope, XTC, Bowie, Eno, Kraftwerk and Can, Barbeau sounds, nevertheless, only like himself. He's capricious and always searching for next and new.

"Prolific, pretentious, precocious, intelligent, quirky, nasal, amusing, annoying to some, pop genius to others, and never ever boring—this, my friends, is the cumulative description of northern California's musical auteur Anton Barbeau."

—PopMatters

CORNER LAUGHERS

"The Corner Laughers are a Californian band who come across like a West Coast Belle and Sebastian. Their indie pop is sassy and smart, intelligent and intricate, twee with bite."-- Paul Lester, The Guardian UK
