David Brookings (b. Nov 12, 1978) grew up in Richmond, VA. and started writing songs when he was 11 years old. At 15, he started playing guitar in little clubs around town, and played in some local bands into his early 20s. His first album "Sounds Off" was produced by Josh Scolaro and Jason Horst and released in 2000. In the summer of 2001, David moved to Memphis, TN. The "End of an Error" album was released in the fall of 2003, and earned pop/rock praise from several US publications.

He began working at Sun Studio as a tour guide in July 2003. He also recorded his next 3 records in the legendary room. "Chorus Verses the Bridge" (2005), "Obsessed" (2007), and "Glass Half Full" (2009) helped to establish David as one of the more prolific songwriters in the Mid-South.
Four of his songs have been used in small budget indie films, and he has played in a handful of festivals, including the International Pop Overthrow series (Chicago, Nashville) and the Indianapolis Midwest Music Summit in 04. "Obsessed" was named the #4 record of the year by Pop Overthrow critic David Bash in 2007, and "Glass Half Full" (2009) ranked top 50 in other papers.
In the fall of 2009, David and his family left Memphis for San Jose, CA. He continues to write songs and perform dates out on the west coast. David's sixth album, 'The Maze', was released on October 22, 2013. Look for Brookings' songs in upcoming films, and Google David Brookings to learn more...

Yes, lead singer/songwriter Karla Kane wears cat-eye glasses, plays ukulele and goes birdwatching, but The Corner Laughers are no stereotypical hipster-twee band.Kane's literate lyrics and "ridiculously catchy" melodies (Word Magazine) are backed up by the powerhouse combination of virtuoso guitarist KC Bowman and rhythm ninjas Khoi Huynh and Charlie Crabtree on bass and drums. And FYI, that ukulele is electric. An intriguing mixture of bookish and badass, together they create "rousing, visionary adult pop" (Tom Robinson's Fresh on the Net).
